If you've read "The Fourth Turning," Howe and Strauss's seminal work, you know that history moves in 22+-year cycles (turnings).
Right now, we're in the Fourth Turning, the Crisis, which repeats every 80-100 years.
The previous turning, called "The Unraveling," plus historical events like 9/11 and the 2008 Financial Crash all accumulate to lead to the last turning in the cycle.
By the time we arrive at the Crisis turning, trust in institutions and the establishment has crumbled and people are frustrated with their leaders. This happens EVERY TIME.
Based on their generational research of US history, in the book Howe and Strauss accurately predicted 9/11, the 2008 Crash, and the Trump/Sanders phenomenon.
Both Sanders and Trump were anti-establishment candidates and emerged right in time for the Fourth Turning showdown. They should have been pitched against each other.
If the Democrats hadn't undermined and cut off Bernie and shooed in their establishment candidate, Hillary Clinton, for the nomination as they did, we could now have a president who truly cares about the country and the people.
Instead, all the disenfranchised people voted for the sociopath in the mistaken belief that he, like Bernie, cares about America and its people.
And maybe this had to happen, because EVERY Fourth Turning culminates in a crash-and-burn scenario that may involve a major war, economic and social collapse, etc.
We have about 10 more years to go in this turning, so a lot can happen. Good news is, after the Fourth Turning comes another First Turning, where we rebuild and rise like a phoenix from the ashes. That, too, is guaranteed.
So rejoice, people—we're witnessing history in the making here!
Honestly, I find it exhilarating to be alive at this time. Adversity builds character. Let's make the best out of what we've got.
